CAT STEVENS

Born Steven Demetre Georgiou in London in 1948, Cat Stevens became one of the defining singer-songwriters of the early 1970s. Albums such as Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat showcased his gift for melody and storytelling, blending acoustic guitars with orchestral touches. At the height of his fame in 1977, Stevens converted to Islam, changed his name to Yusuf Islam, and stepped away from the music industry for nearly three decades.

He returned in the 2000s, releasing new material and touring again, proving his songs had lost none of their warmth or wisdom. From coffee shops to concert halls, Cat Stevens' music remains a gentle, enduring companion.
