Sabbath pioneered heavy metal with occult themes, horror-inspired lyrics, and down-tuned guitars that made parents everywhere question their parenting choices. With the recent passing of the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, we celebrate the legacy of a man who bit the head off a bat and somehow lived to tell the tale for decades.
Their first three albums—Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master of Reality—remain iconic and are cited as the blueprint for heavy metal. Ozzy may have left for that great gig in the sky, but his music will continue corrupting youth for generations to come. Rest in power, madman.
